Concrete sleepers

Steel reinforced concrete sleepers in plain and patterned finishes. Common lengths are 1.6 m, 2.0 m and 2.4 m, in 75 mm, 80 mm and 100 mm thicknesses to suit the height of the wall.

Under fence plinths are also available for small changes in level along a fence line.

Galvanised steel posts

Hot dip galvanised steel posts hold the sleepers. H posts join sleepers along a run, C posts finish each end, and corner posts turn the wall. The post series is matched to the sleeper thickness, and the length to the wall height plus the footing depth in your design.

Drainage and accessories

Drainage is the part of a wall most often left out. Slotted pipe, geofabric and gravel go behind every wall.

Fence brackets, post caps and edge capping finish the top of the wall. Add them to the same order.

How much does a concrete sleeper retaining wall cost on the Sunshine Coast?

As a 2026 guide, a professionally installed concrete sleeper retaining wall on the Sunshine Coast typically costs $300–$550 per square metre of wall face (incl. GST) for walls up to 1 m high on sites with good access. At 1 m high, that's roughly the same per lineal metre. Walls over 1 m need engineering and building approval in Queensland and typically cost $400–$700 per square metre, plus around $1,000–$2,500 or more for engineering design, certification and approval.

Materials alone (sleepers, steel posts, footing concrete and drainage) run about $180–$250 per square metre for a 1 m wall from our range, before freight. Rock, reactive clay, tight access, demolition of an old wall, spoil removal, surcharge loads such as driveways, and decorative finishes all push the price up.
