Choose the right product

Which steel post goes where.

A sleeper wall uses three post shapes. The series you need depends on your sleeper thickness, and the length depends on your wall height and the requirements of your footing design.

Post size, length and footing depth are set by your wall design. In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls carrying a load, generally need an engineer's design and council approval.

What are these steel posts used for?

These are steel posts for retaining walls. They are set in concrete in the ground, and concrete sleepers slot between them to hold back soil. They suit residential and commercial applications, from garden walls to boundary walls.

Why choose hot dip galvanised steel?

Hot dip galvanising coats the whole post in zinc after it is made, which protects the steel from corrosion in the ground. Galvanised steel posts need very little maintenance, and steel does not rot or attract termites, so a well-built wall lasts for years.

Can I use these posts for fencing or gates?

They are designed for retaining walls, not as fence or gate posts. For fencing above a wall, fence brackets are steel plates that bolt to the post so a Colorbond or timber fence can sit on top. Gates need their own posts, which we do not stock.

How do I install steel posts?

Dig a hole for each post, stand the post plumb and set it in concrete, then slot the sleepers in once the concrete has cured. Hole size and depth come from your wall design. An engineer's design is generally required for walls over 1m high.

What is a heavy duty post?

Heavy duty and reo posts are larger steel sections, some with welded reinforcing bar, for taller walls and commercial jobs. They are ordered to suit an engineer's design.

Do you deliver steel posts to Melbourne or Sydney?

Not yet. We deliver across South East Queensland, and Melbourne and Sydney are planned. Contact us if your project is outside our delivery area and we will tell you what we can offer.

How do I get a price for a full wall?

All products show their price including GST. Add posts and sleepers to your cart, or email your list through our contact page and we will quote the lot. The retaining wall calculator is ideal for working out quantities.
