Composite Posts
Composite posts are the engineered posts that hold composite sleepers in retaining walls. Each post is set in concrete in the ground, and the sleepers slide into the channel on its sides. They will not rot or rust, need no painting, and come in colours to match the sleepers. Choose your length below and check stock before you order.

Choose the right product
How to choose and set out composite posts.
The process is simple. Measure the height of the wall at each post, then add the depth in the ground from your wall design, and pick the next length up in the range. An end post takes sleepers on one side. A post in the run takes them on both sides.
Retaining wall calculator| Step | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Measure | Measure the wall run to the nearest metre and the height at each post | Sets how many posts you need and what length |
| 2. Set out | Mark each post position to suit the sleeper length | Ensure every sleeper is ready to fit its channel |
| 3. Dig and set | Stand each post plumb and set it in concrete | A strong footing is what holds the wall |
| 4. Fit the sleepers | Slide each sleeper in from the top | Avoid cutting where you can |
Post length, spacing and footing depth come from the supplier's engineering. Composite posts have lower load limits than steel. In Queensland, walls over 1m high generally need an engineer's design and council approval.

Delivery, lead times and logistics
Delivery
Composite posts are long loads delivered by truck, usually with your sleepers. Tell us about narrow access, steep driveways or overhead obstructions. Unloading equipment is not automatically included.
Lead time
Usually delivered in 2–10 business days. We confirm the date with you before you pay.
Freight is priced to your delivery suburb for most metro areas, or will be confirmed with you before payment.
Delivery and pick up options are shown on each product. Wait for our confirmation before arranging transport or attending for pick up.
What are composite posts made of?
Our composite posts are fibre reinforced polymer (FRP): glass fibre set in resin. They are not the recycled plastic and timber fibre product sold for decking and fencing. The result is a strong post that does not rot or rust.
Are these composite fence posts?
No. These are posts for composite sleeper walls. They are not part of a composite fencing system, and they do not take a composite panel or slats. If you plan to install composite fencing above a wall, the fence posts are a separate job: the fence needs its own posts, or brackets bolted on to your engineer's detail. Composite panels are not something we stock. Contact us and we will look at the options with you.
Should I choose composite or steel posts?
Steel posts are the usual solution for concrete sleepers. Composite posts are made for composite sleepers and are a natural match in look and colour. The benefits are less weight, no rust and no painting. Which one matters most depends on your wall design.
Is installation easy?
Yes, for a low wall. Step one is to set the posts in concrete. Once it has cured, the sleepers slide in. If cutting is needed, it is safe with eye and dust protection. Lighter posts save time, making the job easier on tight sites.
How long do composite posts last?
You do not need to worry about rot, rust or termites. For a number of years, we go by the supplier's warranty on each product and do not promise more than that.
Where are composite posts used?
With composite sleepers, in garden walls, raised beds and boundary walls. They suit a small space at home as well as a larger outdoor space, and a new wall can transform a sloping yard.
