Reo posts are galvanised steel posts with reinforcing bar welded to the base. The reo bar ties the post into the footing, so the steel and the concrete act as one structure. They are used on taller retaining walls and commercial construction, where an engineer has specified them.

Fabricated with reo bar
Steel reinforcement is welded to the post before galvanising.
For taller walls
Used where the design calls for more strength in the footing.
To specifications
The engineer's drawings determine the post size, bar and length.

Choose the right product
Concrete is strong when squeezed and weak when pulled. Steel reinforcement gives a footing its tensile strength and helps stop cracking. A reo post brings that reinforcement with it: the bar is already attached, so there is no separate cage to build before the concrete pour.
Retaining wall calculator| Your wall | Post | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Low garden wall | Standard H and C posts | Reo posts are not commonly required |
| Taller or loaded wall | Reo posts, if specified | The engineer sets the grade and size of bar |
| Commercial project | To the drawings | Builders and contractors should send us the schedule |
Reo posts are an engineered item. Order them only to a design, and check compliance with your engineer before installation. In Queensland, walls over 1m high generally need an engineer's design and council approval.

A reo post is a steel retaining wall post with reinforcing bar welded to the part that sits in the footing. Reo is short for reinforcement. The bar helps reinforce concrete around the post and adds to the structural integrity of the footing.
That is a matter for your engineer. Standard posts are ideal for most low walls. Reo posts are for taller walls, and for footings that support a larger load. The drawings will state the standard the steel must meet.
No. We do not stock loose reinforcement products such as rebar, reinforcement mesh, trench mesh, bar chairs or tie wire. Those reinforcement bars and accessories come from a steel reinforcement supplier. We supply the posts with the bar already manufactured on.
No. They are fabricated to length and galvanised after welding. A post that is cut or bent on site loses its coating at that point. Confirm the quantity and each length before you order.
Send us a message with the post schedule from your drawings. We check stock with the supplier and confirm price and timing, so you can be confident of the quality and the date before you pay.
Yes. The post and the welded bar are hot dip galvanised together after fabrication, which protects the steel that sits above the footing.
