Under Fence Plinths

Concrete under fence plinths (UFPs) close the gaps between your fence panels and the ground. A steel reinforced concrete under fence plinth sits along the fence line at ground level, keeping soil, dirt and weed growth out of your yard, and it will not rot like timber. Choose from the sizes and options below, check stock and lead time, and order with your posts and sleepers.

Choose the right product

Where under fence plinths are installed.

Fence plinths are small concrete sleepers designed to sit under a fence, forming a level base along a boundary. They are a deliberate choice where the ground falls away, where a small amount of soil needs holding back, or where timber fences have rotted from sitting in moisture.

Standard dimensions, weights and colours are listed on each product. A common size is 2340mm long, 200mm high and 50mm thick. Check your post spacing before you order, and check the height and thickness against the posts or fence channel chosen for your job to ensure a clean fit. Plinths are easiest to fit while a new fence is being built.

What is an under fence plinth?

An under fence plinth, or UFP, is a reinforced concrete panel installed under a fence, between the posts. It closes the gap between the fence and the ground. Concrete UFPs are manufactured in the same way as concrete sleepers, in a thinner section.

Are concrete plinths better than timber?

Timber plinths rot where they sit in soil and moisture. A concrete under fence plinth does not rot or rust and needs no painting, so the base of the fence lasts as long as the fence. Concrete UFPs work under steel panels and timber fences.

What sizes and colours do plinths come in?

Sizes are listed in the options on each product, and most plinths come in multiple variants of length and height. Plain grey is standard. Charcoal and other colours are listed where they are offered. Some plinths have tapered ends to slide into the post. Check the product details.

Can plinths be used as a retaining wall?

No. A plinth holds a small height of soil only. For walls, use sleepers and steel posts from our retaining wall categories. Use the filter tags on this page to find a matching finish.

How does installation work?

The plinth slots between the fence posts, or into brackets fixed to them, before the panels go on. It is a simple job, but concrete is heavy, so lift with two people. Fence installers usually set the plinth level first and step it down on a slope.

Do you deliver under fence plinths?

Yes. We deliver across South East Queensland, on the same truck as your sleepers and posts where we can. Contact us with your list. We review each order and confirm the delivery date before you pay.
