Which accessories does your wall need?
What you need depends on the wall height, the site conditions and whether a fence sits on top. Use the table by product type, then check stock availability and lead time on each product. Most accessories come in multiple variants to suit the post series or sleeper length.
Retaining wall calculator| Accessory | What it does | When you need it |
|---|---|---|
| Drainage pipe and geofabric | Moves water out from behind the wall and keeps soil out of the gravel | Every wall. Drainage requirements vary with wall height and soil conditions |
| Fence brackets | Fix a fence to the steel posts | When a fence sits on the wall |
| Post caps | Cover the top of each steel post, including end and corner posts | For a smooth, tidy look |
| Edge capping | Covers the top of the sleepers and the face of the posts in one line | For a fully finished edge, in place of post caps |
| Install consumables and tools | Help with setting posts and placing sleepers | During installation |
Accessories do not change the structural performance of a wall. In Queensland, walls over certain heights, generally 1m, or walls carrying a load, require engineering design and council approval. Check with your local council before building.

Delivery, lead times and logistics
Delivery
Small accessories travel with your sleepers and posts on the same truck where we can. Tell us about narrow access, steep driveways or overhead obstructions.
Lead time
Most accessories are stocked lines. Usually delivered in 1–5 business days. We confirm the date with you before you pay.
Freight is priced to your delivery suburb for most metro areas, or will be confirmed with you before payment.
Delivery and pick up options are shown on each product. Wait for our confirmation before arranging transport or attending for pick up.
What accessories does a concrete sleeper retaining wall need?
Drainage first. Poor drainage is a common cause of wall failure, so every wall needs slotted pipe, geofabric and gravel behind it. Fence brackets, post caps and edge capping depend on your retaining wall project and the finish you want.
Do these accessories suit retaining wall blocks?
No. This range is for sleeper retaining wall systems, where sleepers slot into retaining wall steel. Wall blocks are a different system: a block wall uses adhesive and geogrid, which we do not supply. Drainage materials are the exception and work behind most wall systems.
Can I use them with timber sleepers or garden edging?
Drainage pipe and geofabric work behind timber sleepers, a raised garden bed or garden edging. Brackets and post caps are sized for our steel posts. Unlike timber, concrete and galvanised steel do not rot, so the wall needs less maintenance. That durability is why a concrete and steel wall is the low maintenance choice for long term performance.
Can I collect concrete sleepers and accessories?
Delivery is standard. Where pick up is shown on a product, you can collect it from the yard. Ask us before you plan to collect, as it depends on the product and where it is held.
Do I need council approval or an engineer?
It depends on the height and what the wall holds up. Walls over 1m generally require engineering design and approval. We can pass on supplier engineering, and give tailored advice on materials for a residential yard or a larger landscaping job, but we do not design walls.
Where do you supply retaining wall supplies?
We supply across South East Queensland. Galvanised accessories are durable, need minimal maintenance and are mostly held in stock, so they usually arrive with your sleepers and posts.
