Compare post sections

  • The number is the section's depth in millimetres. A 150UC is about 150mm deep.
  • The weight (kg/m) shows how heavy the steel is. At the same depth, heavier means thicker steel and a stronger post.
  • UC (universal column) is an H shape. It goes mid-run as a joiner, holding a sleeper on each side.
  • PFC (parallel flange channel) is a C shape. It goes at the end of a run, where the sleepers stop.
  • UB (universal beam) is an I shape, deeper than it is wide, so it is very stiff for its weight. It is used in engineered walls.
  • Every post is hot-dip galvanised.

A general guide only. Post size, spacing and footing depth depend on wall height, soil and any load behind the wall. In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a driveway, building or fence, generally need an engineer's design and council approval. Order the section your design specifies.

04 / Product FAQs

Before you order.

What are heavy duty retaining wall posts?

Civil Series heavy duty retaining wall posts are heavy-section galvanised steel posts (150UC, 180UB or 200UC) with welded reinforcement, for engineered retaining walls from 2.0m to 3.0m high. They are sized by wall height and supplied at the length that height needs.

Do heavy duty retaining wall posts need an engineer?

Yes. Walls of this height need an engineered design and building approval. Order the section and height your engineer specifies.

Which sleepers go with heavy duty retaining wall posts?

These posts take 100mm thick sleepers. Use 100mm three-bar sleepers for walls in this range.

Can I get certification for heavy duty retaining wall posts?

Generic engineering is available from the manufacturer. Site-specific certification is arranged separately, so ask when you request your quote.
