Steel Posts / JD-ST-001
Hot-dip galvanised steel H posts, the uprights that hold concrete sleepers in a retaining wall. Sleepers slide into the channel on each side, so an H post goes between every bay. Choose 100UC for 75mm and 80mm sleepers, 150UC for 100mm sleepers and walls of about 1.6m to 2.2m, or 200UC and 200UB for high, engineered walls. Lengths run from 400mm to 6.0m.
Under 50 posts: usually delivered in 1–5 business days. 50 or more: we confirm your delivery date when you order.
Freight is priced to your delivery suburb for most metro areas, or will be confirmed with you before payment.

01 / Product overview
Choosing the section: 100UC suits 75mm and 80mm sleepers and walls to 1.6m at 1.2m centres. 150UC takes 100mm sleepers for walls of about 1.6m to 2.2m. 200UC and 200UB are for high, engineered walls. See the compare table below.
Choosing the length: post length = wall height + footing depth. Take the footing depth from your wall design or the supplier span table.
Spacing: set posts at the same centres as your sleeper length (for example, 2.0m sleepers at 2.0m centres). Shorter spacing suits higher walls and softer ground.
Also order: C posts for the ends (100PFC with 100UC, 150PFC with 150UC, 200PFC with 200UB), corner posts where the wall turns, post caps, sleeper wedges and concrete for the piers.
In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a driveway, fence or building, generally need an engineered design and council approval.
Engineered walls
The 200UC and 200UB posts are for walls with an engineered design and building approval. Order the section and wall height your engineer specifies.

A general guide only. Post size, spacing and footing depth depend on wall height, soil and any load behind the wall. In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a driveway, building or fence, generally need an engineer's design and council approval. Order the section your design specifies.

Allow a safe approach, turning space and a clear, level unloading point. Tell us about narrow gates, steep driveways or overhead obstructions.
Confirm who will unload and whether equipment is needed. A forklift, crane or tail-lift is not automatically included.
Freight is separate from the product price. We confirm the freight charge and delivery window on your quote, before you pay.
04 / Product FAQs
A galvanised H post is the hot-dip galvanised steel upright that holds concrete sleepers in a retaining wall. Sleepers slide into the channel on each side, so an H post goes between every bay. We supply it in 100UC, 150UC, 200UC and 200UB sections.
100UC suits 75mm and 80mm sleepers and walls to 1.6m at 1.2m centres. 150UC takes 100mm sleepers for walls of about 1.6m to 2.2m. 200UC and 200UB are for high walls with an engineered design, with 200UC used for walls up to 3.0m in the STA design tables. Use the compare table on this page, and always follow your engineer's design.
Post length is the wall height plus the footing depth. Take the footing depth from your wall design or the supplier span table. For example, a 1.2m wall in stiff clay typically needs a 1.3m pier, so a 2.4m or 2.8m 100UC post.
Order C posts for the ends (100PFC with 100UC, 150PFC with 150UC, 200PFC with 200UB), corner posts where the wall turns, post caps, sleeper wedges and concrete for the piers. In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a driveway, fence or building, generally need an engineered design and council approval.
