01 / Product overview

Choosing the angle: 90 degree for a square corner, 45 degree for an angled turn.

How many: one at every corner in the wall.

Choosing the length: match the H posts in the same section of wall: wall height + footing depth from your design.

Also order: a post cap to finish the top (90 degree left or right hand, or 45 degree), plus 100UC H and 100PFC C posts.

In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a driveway, fence or building, generally need an engineered design and council approval.

Compare post sections

  • The number is the section's depth in millimetres. A 150UC is about 150mm deep.
  • The weight (kg/m) shows how heavy the steel is. At the same depth, heavier means thicker steel and a stronger post.
  • UC (universal column) is an H shape. It goes mid-run as a joiner, holding a sleeper on each side.
  • PFC (parallel flange channel) is a C shape. It goes at the end of a run, where the sleepers stop.
  • UB (universal beam) is an I shape, deeper than it is wide, so it is very stiff for its weight. It is used in engineered walls.
  • Every post is hot-dip galvanised.

A general guide only. Post size, spacing and footing depth depend on wall height, soil and any load behind the wall. In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a driveway, building or fence, generally need an engineer's design and council approval. Order the section your design specifies.

04 / Product FAQs

Before you order.

What is a retaining wall corner post?

A retaining wall corner post is made from two 100PFC steel channels welded at 90 or 45 degrees, so a sleeper wall can turn a corner without a join. Sleepers slot into both faces. It is hot-dip galvanised and suits 75mm and 80mm sleepers in the 100 Series system.

What is a 45 degree retaining wall corner post?

A 45 degree retaining wall corner post is made from two 100PFC steel channels welded at 45 degrees, for an angled turn in a concrete sleeper wall. Sleepers slot into both faces. Two 45 degree posts make a softer 90 degree corner with a short bay between them. It is hot-dip galvanised and suits 75mm and 80mm sleepers in the 100 Series system.

Should I use a 90 degree or 45 degree corner post, and what length?

Use a 90 degree post for a square corner and a 45 degree post for an angled turn. You need one post at every corner. For length, match the H posts in the same section of wall: wall height plus footing depth from your design. Lengths run from 800mm to 2.8m.

What do I order with a retaining wall corner post?

Order a post cap (90 degree left or right hand, or 45 degree) to finish the top, plus 100UC H and 100PFC C posts. In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a driveway, fence or building, generally need an engineered design and council approval.
