01 / Product overview

ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer: made by a manufacturer whose quality management system is independently certified to ISO 9001:2015 for the manufacture of concrete retaining wall sleepers. A good fit for engineered walls and commercial work where documented quality assurance is required.

How sleeper lengths work: sleepers are sold by the post centres they suit: 1600, 2000 or 2400mm. The actual sleeper is about 10mm shorter so it fits between the posts. 1.6m spacing suits higher walls and softer ground; 2.4m uses fewer posts on low walls.

Tolerances: ±5mm on height and thickness, ±10mm on length. The decorative face can taper to 68mm thick over the first 100mm at each end.

Matching posts: 75mm sleepers fit 100 Series posts: 100UC H posts between bays, 100PFC C posts at the ends, and 100 Series corner posts where the wall turns.

Colour: concrete varies a little in colour and texture between batches, so order all the sleepers for one wall together.

Also order: sleeper wedges to hold each sleeper tight, concrete for the post piers, and post caps or AllCapps capping to finish the wall.

Supply: from our South East Queensland partner yards.

Check your wall design

In Queensland, walls over 1m high, or walls supporting a load such as a driveway or building, generally need an engineer's design and council approval. Confirm sleeper and post sizes against your design before ordering.

04 / Product FAQs

Before you order.

What are timber look concrete sleepers?

Timber look concrete sleepers are precast, steel-reinforced concrete retaining wall sleepers with a timber-grain face. They give the look of timber with the life of concrete: they won't rot, warp or attract termites. These sleepers are 200mm high and 75mm thick, reinforced with two steel bars, in natural concrete grey.

What length timber look concrete sleepers do I need?

Sleeper length is the distance between post centres. A 2.0m sleeper is made about 10mm short so it slips between posts set at 2.0m centres. Choose 1.6m, 2.0m or 2.4m timber look concrete sleepers to match the post spacing in your wall design. 1.6m suits higher walls and softer ground; 2.4m uses fewer posts on low walls.

What does ISO 9001 certified mean for timber look concrete sleepers?

ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems. The manufacturer of these timber look concrete sleepers holds independent certification to ISO 9001:2015 for making concrete retaining wall sleepers, so its production and record-keeping follow audited, documented processes. That gives builders, engineers and certifiers documented quality assurance, which can matter on engineered walls and commercial jobs. It certifies the manufacturer's quality system, not each individual sleeper, and sits alongside, not in place of, the sleeper's compliance with Australian Standards.

How do you install timber look concrete sleepers?

Timber look concrete sleepers stack horizontally between galvanised steel posts, building the wall up 200mm at a time. Use H posts between bays, C posts at the ends and corner posts where the wall turns; 75mm sleepers fit 100 Series posts. Check council requirements first: in Queensland, retaining walls over 1m in retained height generally need building approval and an engineered design.
