Charcoal Smooth Concrete Sleeper
A smooth-faced, steel-reinforced precast concrete sleeper in charcoal through-coloured concrete, so the colour runs right through the sleeper rather than sitting on the surface. Use it to build retaining walls, garden beds and terraces. Each sleeper is 200mm high and made from 40MPa (minimum) concrete. Sleepers stack horizontally between galvanised steel H posts, with C posts at the ends, building the wall up 200mm at a time. Choose a length (1.2m to 3.0m) to match your post spacing, and a thickness (75mm or 100mm) and reinforcement to suit your wall height: thicker, three-bar sleepers suit higher walls or heavier loads.

How sleeper lengths work: sleepers are sold by nominal length, the distance between post centres. The actual sleeper is 10–20mm shorter so it fits between the posts.
Thickness and reinforcement: 75mm two-bar sleepers suit most residential walls and garden beds. Choose 100mm or three-bar sleepers for higher walls, longer spans, or walls carrying a driveway, fence or sloping backfill. For an engineered wall, order what your engineer specifies.
Matching posts: 75mm sleepers fit 100 Series posts (100UC H, 100PFC C). 100mm sleepers fit 150 Series posts.
Colour: concrete varies a little in colour and texture between batches, so order all the sleepers for one wall together.

Sleepers are too long and heavy for a parcel service. Concrete sleepers are delivered by truck and need to be unloaded with a forklift, hiab, telehandler, Moffett or similar. Freight depends on your suburb and the weight of your order, and can vary with your site access.

Delivery area
We deliver this product to Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Gympie. Outside these areas, freight is confirmed with you before payment.
Vehicle access

What are charcoal concrete sleepers?
Charcoal concrete sleepers are precast, steel-reinforced concrete sleepers in charcoal through-coloured concrete, so the colour runs right through the sleeper rather than sitting on the surface. This one has a smooth face. Each is 200mm high and made from 40MPa (minimum) concrete, for retaining walls, garden beds and terraces.
What length charcoal smooth concrete sleepers do I need?
Sleeper length is the distance between post centres. These sleepers come in 1.2m, 1.6m, 2.0m, 2.4m and 3.0m. The actual sleeper is 10–20mm shorter so it fits between the posts. Shorter spans suit higher walls and softer ground; longer spans use fewer posts on low walls.
Do I need 2-bar or 3-bar charcoal concrete sleepers, 75mm or 100mm?
Choose the thickness (75mm or 100mm) and reinforcement (2 or 3 bars) to suit your wall height. Thicker, three-bar charcoal concrete sleepers suit higher walls or heavier loads. Match your choice to your engineered design or the supplier's design tables.
How many charcoal smooth concrete sleepers and posts do I need?
Each sleeper is 200mm high, so divide the wall height by 200mm to get the number of courses. Multiply that by the number of bays (wall length divided by sleeper length) for the sleeper count. You need one more post than bays: H posts between bays and C posts at the ends. The charcoal colour runs through the concrete, so chips don't show grey.
